Metal Cladding
For large commercial or industrial structures, metal cladding is a popular choice for providing an exterior layer of protection against the elements. Composed of interlocking or mechanically fastened panels, exterior metal cladding provides incredible protection against storm damage, lasts for decades, and creates a sleek, modern aesthetic.
As global experts in metal finishing, our team at Polished Metals is able to polish high volumes of exterior metal cladding panels for use in architecture and design projects. We maintain a large inventory of architectural sheet metal and plates and have the in-house equipment needed to apply nearly any finish to cladding products brought to our facility.

What Is Metal Cladding?
Metal cladding refers to specialized panels of metal that are affixed to buildings—most often the exterior—to provide weather protection and water-resistance. In addition to these practical functions, polished metal cladding can also provide a modern look for new buildings, whether through highly reflective mirror finishes or satin finishes that provide a less reflective sheen.
In addition to exterior use cases, cladding may also be used as part of metal interior design projects for interior wall panels, ceiling panels, or for elevators and escalators.
What Different Types of Metal Cladding Are There?
Metal cladding is available in a wide variety of types, and these types differ according to the fastening systems they use as well as the materials.
In terms of systems, metal cladding may connect in a variety of ways. Some of the most common include flatlock, snaplock, standing seam, and interlocking; custom exterior metal cladding may also use a different connecting system entirely.
When it comes to metals, a wide variety of non-ferrous metal types are well-suited to be used as cladding panels. Aluminum is especially popular, due to its lightweight nature, resistance to rust, and durability. Stainless steel is stronger than aluminum and even more corrosion resistant, while also resisting dents more readily. Copper and other red metals may also be used, though copper is typically among the most expensive metals and is less commonly used as cladding.
