Use Cases for Brass Channel Products
Brass channel (both C channel and U channel) is seen in many industries worldwide. Some of our clients have included the following:
- Architecture – A wide variety of brass products are commonly used in architectural projects, including brass channel, plates, tubing, and more. Its attractive gold color is highly unique to this metal, and it stands up well against many types of corrosion.
- Construction – Brass channel is frequently used for decorative framework, window tracks, cover and joining strips, and other portions of construction projects that must be both aesthetically pleasing and functional.
- Electrical & Plumbing – Brass is highly conductive of both heat and electricity while resisting corrosion. This makes it an ideal choice for both electrical components and many plumbing fixtures.
- Marine – In its marine-grade form (also called naval brass), brass and brass channel may be used for many components as it resists the types of corrosion common to coastal and seaborne environments.
Why Brass?
Polished brass is highly favored for channel products for a number of reasons. When used as a decoration, for trim and edging, or for other highly visible applications, its yellow-gold color lends it a unique aesthetic that can’t be matched by other metals. Further, its high conductivity and resistance to corrosion give it excellent durability, and its tensile strength can even surpass that of stainless steel, depending on the compositions of each.
Our Brass Channel Offerings
At Polished Metals, our team can finish high volumes of brass channel products according to various specifications for shape, size, and thickness.
Brass C Channel
A C channel is an extruded metal product that is shaped like the letter “C” when viewed in profile (that is, from one end or the other). C channel products have a tapered flange that is wider toward the “web” of the channel.
Brass U Channel
Similarly, U channel is also an extruded product with a shape very akin to the C channel. However, U channel lacks the tapered flanges of C channel.
C Channel vs. U Channel
The primary difference between C channel and U channel is that the former has tapered flanges, while the latter does not. While these two types of brass channel commonly overlap in their use cases, particularly for decorative applications and edging, there are some differences in their usage patterns as well. In choosing between the two, it’s important to factor in your budget as well as the structural demands that will be placed on your brass channel.
